One of the most controversial moves in the past NFL draft was the Chicago Bears trading up to select North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Many pointed to his inexperienced play, only being a one-year starter at North Carolina. While he has a tremendous upside, there was a lot of speculation surrounding his talent. There was no doubt that he was going to be drafted. With the No. 2 overall pick, however, no one saw coming.

Now, after sitting on the bench the first four weeks, he has officially been named the starter for this weeks game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears confirmed the move after ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dan Graziano reported the news.

“It’s just experience,” Bears head coach John Fox told reporters on Aug. 31. “He doesn’t have a lot of experience. Like any young player, the more they’re out there, that experience is very valuable.”

The first four games saw Mike Glennon as the starting quarterback. He put up good numbers, it was just his inability to do it on a consistent basis that caused this change.

Glennon totaled 833 yards with a 66.4 completion percentage. His worst outing may have been against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he turned the ball over three times in a 29-7 loss.

The Chicago Bears currently sit in last place in the NFC North with a 1-3 record, their only win coming against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week three.
