No. 24 NC State has had one of the best seasons in recent memory and kept things rolling last night with a  39-25 win over No. 17 Louisville.

With the win, the Wolfpack advance to 5-1 on the season with their only loss coming in their opening game against South Carolina.

“They don’t want to be denied what they feel is theirs right now,” NC State head coach Dave Doeren said. “They’ve had the struggle. You have to face your fear. You’ve got to grow up, to dig deep. Our guys did that.”

At this point, everything is clicking for the Wolfpack. QB Ryan Finley is spearheading the offensive attack, having thrown 288 straight passes without an interception.

“We’re playing with a chip on our shoulder,” Finley said. “Last year was a tough season. When you go through the fire, you come out burned.”

The emergence of NC State as a power in the ACC really changes the entire layout of the conference.

With Clemson as the clear frontrunner, NC State’s win over Louisville put the Cardinals out of the championship picture as they have two losses. Thus, if Clemson is able to run the table to the duration they will surely come out of the ACC Atlantic. The Coastal division of the ACC, however, has a much different look to it as it will likely come down to Miami or Virginia Tech.

Regardless, one team from the ACC is going to be in the college football playoff. Right now Clemson is that team, NC State is making things interesting, however.
