NFL training camp 2024: Patriots reportedly releasing WR JuJu Smith-Schuster

NFL training camps are well under way for every franchise across the league.

Here are the answers to some key questions, and the latest updates from around summer practices.

Every team starts getting underway this weekend. The preseason ends on Sunday, Aug. 25, and NFL roster cutdown day is Tuesday, Aug. 27.

    Indianapolis hosts Denver on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, and we’ll get our first look at 2023 No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson since Week 5 of last season.

    The eighth-year pro had reportedly been struggling in training camp, and didn’t record a catch in limited action in the Patriots’ preseason opener Thursday, a win over the Panthers. New England takes on nearly $10 million in dead money by making the move now.

    Smith-Schuster has also played for the Steelers and Chiefs, with whom he won a Super Bowl in the 2022 season. The 2017 second-round pick has 430 career catches for 5,048 yards and 32 touchdowns.

    The second-year QB says he’s unfazed by the prospect of getting hit again.

  • Joe Milton outshines fellow rookie Drake Maye in Patriots debut

    While all the attention was on No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye, he only played one uneventful series for the Patriots in their preseason opener against the Panthers Thursday.

    But 6th-round rookie Joe Milton? He made the most exciting play of the day with a 38-yard TD strike in the 4th quarter. Hey, why not. The Patriots won 17-3.

  • CeeDee Lamb on Jerry Jones’ contract comments: “lol”

    Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones provided an update on how contract negotiations are going between the Cowboys and star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who has yet to report to training camp while he awaits a new deal.

  • Marvin Harrison Jr. will play in Cardinals’ preseason game

    Yet another high-profile rookie is set to make his preseason debut this week. Cards coach Jonathan Gannon confirms the No. 4 overall pick will play Saturday against the Saints.

  • Confirmed: Caleb Williams will make his preseason debut Saturday

    After most starters were held for Chicago in last week’s Hall of Fame Game, they will see some action Saturday against the Bills. That includes, of course, No. 1 draft pick Caleb Williams.

  • Falcons lose WR Rondale Moore for the season

    The receiver added via a trade this offseason reportedly suffered a season-ending knee injury in Wednesday’s practice. A gut punch for a team and an offense with a lot of big goals this season under new head coach Raheem Morris and quarterback Kirk Cousins.

  • Report: Sam Darnold to start, J.J. McCarthy will play in Vikings preseason opener

    This aligns with what Vikings have been doing throughout training camp. Darnold is the starter but the rookie McCarthy will get a “significant” amount of work in Saturday’s preseason openers vs. Raiders, per head coach Kevin O’Connell.

  • Saints sign LB Pete Werner to 3-year extension worth more than $25 million

    Over the last three seasons with the Saints, Werner has played in 43 games and made 235 total tackles.

  • Update: Colts WR Josh Downs out 4-6 weeks

    The second-year wideout will miss significant time with a reported high-ankle sprain, likely keeping him out for the start of the regular season.
