The first Sunday of the new NFL season is in the books, and we learned a little about a few teams in the process of the games that we saw play out. Sure, there are still 15 more to go for each team, but there is clearly work to be done for some. One of those teams are the new-look Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who fell 34-23 to the New Orleans Saints in an NFC South match up. Tom Brady, in his first-ever game outside of New England threw two interceptions, all the while Drew Brees and the Saints never really got going offensively. Yet, they still won on the day, showing they remain a favorite in the conference.

Elsewhere, the Patriots got off to a winning start in their new ‘normal,’ utilizing new QB Cam Newton in a 21-11 win over the Miami Dolphins. He was exceptional on the ground and through the air, rushing for two TD’s and racking up over 200 all-purpose yards. As for the standout performer of the day, it could well have been Aaron Rodgers. He led the Green Bay Packers to a 43-34 win over Minnesota thanks to a 32-44 day that included four TD tosses and 364 yards in the air. Not a bad way to start, especially considering how some of the sound bytes were received in the offseason!
