NHL Teams Turn To Outdoor Games Idea

The NHL, like all sports, is dependent upon fans for revenue. But hockey is extremely dependent upon them, and as such, they are looking into ways, reportedly, to make sure they can have some fans coming through the turnstiles for the upcoming season. One such idea being bandied about by four teams (the Kings, Ducks, Bruins, and Penguins) is to play a number of regular season games outdoors.

The idea behind that is that there would be more space for fans to be seated in a socially distanced manner, thus allowing more overall people to watch the game. This then trickles to the teams, who will make more money than they would if they were even allowed to have fans inside, which does not seem likely at this point, at least at a significant number. It is a long-shot idea for some teams, but we could see one or two pull it off, and that would be a great way to get some fans back and have a somewhat normal atmosphere once again.
