Ozuna Wins First NL DH Of The Year

Yes, you did read that headline correctly. For the first time in the history of Major League Baseball, a National League player has won the DH of the Year Award. And that award couldn’t go to any other man besides Atlanta Braves’ slugger Marcell Ozuna. Ozuna, now a free agent after a very successful showing in 2020, was tremendous, helping the Braves to another NL East crown as he hit a league-high 18 home runs through the shortened 60-game season.

At present, there is no word on whether or not the DH rule will be used by the NL next season, so his services as a free agent right now could depend on whether the league goes with the same rules or goes back to the traditional way of play. In all honesty, it would be no surprise at all to see the league transition full-time to the DH, but we could be in for a surprise and a temporary reprieve.
