Sandoval Makes Rare History
Pablo Sandoval just did something that very few men have ever done. They say that history repeats itself, and that has never been more apparent after he turned back the clock and had a game for the ages, smashing a homer, stealing a base, and pitching a scoreless inning, too.
The last man to do so in the major leagues was pitching great Christy Mathewson did it way back in 1905. He, like Sandoval, did it for the Giants against the Reds, though some of the background information has changed a bit. Nonetheless, it is an interesting tidbit of history in an otherwise lopsided 12-4 Reds win in Cincinnati.
