The Italian Serie A title race is just about over following the results of Saturday. Juventus are now seven points clear of chasers Lazio due to a 4-1 win over inner-city rivals Torino. Paulo Dybala scored, Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal and an assist, and they applied the pressure to Lazio, who blinked later on in the day.
Lazio would lose 0-3 at home to AC Milan, allowing the struggling team to take them effectively out of the title picture. There are eight games left, but it’s a tall order to come back. In Germany, the domestic season officially ended on Saturday with the German Cup Final being played out. Bayern Munich took on Bayer Leverkusen, and won in an entertaining affair by a 4-2 score line. Robert Lewandowski scored Bayern’s last two goals to seal off the win, and the game was never as close as the 4-2 score suggests. Bayern will look to make it a hat-trick of trophies when they play in the Champions League next month.
