SMU Survives In OT, Remains Unbeaten

The SMU Mustangs are still unbeaten. They might only have saved that record by the skin of their teeth on Friday night, but they can still boast about that fact. Taking on Tulane, they were forced to go into overtime and they narrowly held out to win 37-34.

The #17 Mustangs got a field goal from Chris Naggar, from 34 yards, in the first OT to move to 5-0 and remain in with a chance of being the proverbial ‘fly in the ointment’ this season. Quarterback Shane Buechele impressed under center, throwing for 384 yards and two touchdowns on 23-37 passing. Rashee Rice caught seven of those passes for 139 yards and a TD, helping them just about squeeze out a win over the 2-3 Green Wave.
