In a move that is sure to infuriate some people out there, it’s being reported that former Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora will be returning to the very same dugout for the 2021 season. This, of course, comes off the back of him being fired by the club prior to the start of 2020, as well as him being suspended by Major League Baseball due to his role in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal.
While the move is set to not be all wrapped up just yet, with terms still yet to be determined, it does look safe to say that he will indeed be the man leading the new-look Red Sox when the season gets underway next year. The evidence is pretty clear he’s the man for the job, as the club have not done any serious searching for a new manager following the dismissal of Ron Roenicke after they went 24-36 in the truncated 2020 season. All signs point to Cora, even if it’s not exactly the most ‘positive’ move they could have made.
