If sources are to be believed, the NBA off season has become even more interesting ahead of the official start of free agency. According to multiple reports throughout the media, the LeBron James will be testing out the free agent market this summer. James, and anyone that has a player option, has up until Friday at 11:59 PM to express their decisions. Apparently, he has already done so, and that now means that he becomes the star among a large class of big free agents.

James now joins the likes of Paul George, Chris Paul, and DeMarcus Cousins as those that will be on the free market and available to be signed starting on Sunday when the calendar turns to July. Current looks see George heading to Los Angeles to join the Lakers, while Paul is likely to return to Houston. Both teams will be hoping James will look toward them, while Cousins could potentially join up with James depending upon his ultimate decision.

James, of course, could still choose to stay in Cleveland, though. One such thing that could sway him to stay is a possible ownership stake. As it stands now, he would not be able to ask for that had he opted in to another season. So opting out could simply mean he is making a Beckham-esque play. David Beckham, of course, signed for the LA Galaxy all those years ago and in so doing was given the right to own a franchise down the line.

Of course, this could also be a legitimate way for him to leave and look for greener pastures, too. There are some very intriguing options open to him. Going to Boston or Philadelphia in the East have to be big considerations, while joining Houston and forming a new big three is a possibility. Of course, going to the Lakers would be the big blockbuster that many want to see. Kawhi Leonard’s status also affects all of this, making this one of the most riveting summers in NBA history for sure.
