Just a matter of a few days ago, it was being said that there was little to no chance that the NBA would be back before Christmas time. In fact, many of the players were, reportedly, believed to be holding out until at least January before a return to action would take place.
However, it looks like the tide has turned now, with sources now indicating that the players and owners are set to agree on the league tipping off its slate of games on December 22nd. The deal is also said to include a reduction to a 72-game schedule, something that many people had been asking for pre-Covid anyway. This will, according to some estimates, save the league millions upon millions of dollars, so it appears this bit of crisis has been avoided for now.
