Adam Silver has done a lot in his time as Commissioner for the NBA, and it appears that the goodwill he has built up could be being harnessed right now. That’s because, according to sources, he is working hard to try and push a deal across the line that would see the league start prior to Christmas.
As of right now, it does not look like that will happen, and it has led to speculation that millions and millions of dollars will be lost if they do not get started before then. The current idea bandied about by the owners would be for a December 22nd start and a 72-game season, but that does not appear to be something that the players want. It doesn’t look possible, but Silver has pulled off some unlikely maneuvers in the past, so you never know.
