The NHL Playoffs are also going on right now, and Thursday saw two teams punch their tickets to the second round in their quest for the Stanley Cup. The Dallas Stars won Game 6 over the Calgary Flames by a whopping 7-3 score line.
They were down 0-3 at one stage, but they roared back to score seven in a row, four of which came from Denis Gurianov on a night he’ll not soon forget. Meanwhile, the New York Islanders completely shut down the Washington Capitals in Game 5 to win their series 4-1. The 4-0 win was miserly, as they only allowed 21 shots on target, and they got two goals from Anthony Beauvillier along the way. Two open-net goals came down the stretch, but the win was truthfully sealed up long before that.
