For the opening two periods, the Dallas Stars were in control against the Tampa Bay Lightning. They had been well-rested, while their opposition were banged up coming into it. That showed early on as Joel Hanley grabbed an early goal only to be canceled out by Yanni Gourde.
However, the second period brought two for the Stars, with Jamie Oleksiak and Joel Kirivanta finding the net. Their insurance came in the third through Jason Dickinson. But it was goaltender Anton Khudobin that made 35 total saves, 22 of which came in the final period, to preserve the win and hand them a 1-0 start in the Stanley Cup Finals.
