If sources are to be believed, and these look to be pretty good ones, Chris Paul is set to be on the move once again. This time he will be headed, apparently, to the Phoenix Suns after the Oklahoma City Thunder agreed a ‘deal in principle’ with them on Monday. The deal, one that has been rumored for a little while now, is said to be swapping Paul for Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre, Jr., a first-round pick in 2022, and two other players as well.
Phoenix will also be getting Abdel Nadar as part of the trade, it would appear. This comes as a result of a couple of things. The Suns ended last season on a high, going 8-0 in the NBA’s ‘bubble’ as star Devin Booker shone brightly. They no doubt want to pair him with another star, so Paul is thought to be the man to do it with. The other thing that deserves mention is that OKC, who had only landed him last summer from Houston, wanted to reduce the salary cap hit placed upon the team. So, all in all, both teams get something here, though it does mean that the Thunder will be ‘restarting’ once more.
