Sweet Revenge As Brosseau Sends Rays To ALDS

He didn’t say it was about revenge, but we should all know better. Just over a month ago, Tampa Bay Rays hitter Mike Brosseau was thrown at- over his head- by flamethrower Aroldis Chapman. The next day he hit two home runs against the New York Yankees to get a modicum of revenge. On Friday night, though, he got the sweetest revenge possible off of the man that threw at him 40 some days ago.

In an extremely tight and tense game that saw both teams throw their best pitchers early and often, the score was tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the eighth. That is when Brosseau kept fighting, fouling off pitches and getting his timing down. After nine pitches, he had the timing, and he would launch the tenth into the stands for a solo homer that gave them a 2-1 lead that Diego Castillo would see out. Earlier in the going, the Yankees had taken the advantage as Mike Judge cracked a solo homer over the right field wall to give them a 1-0 lead. An inning later, in the fifth, the game was tied when Austin Meadows knocked himself in. With the Game 5 victory, the Rays advanced to the ALCS in San Diego, where they will meet the Houston Astros. Of course, they have more bad blood with them as well…
