The first ‘real’ week of college football was played, in the eyes of many, on Saturday as we got everyone on the field- barring the Big Ten and Pac-12 of course- that is going to be playing. Those two will be playing in due time, but until then at least we have some big schools featured. Unfortunately for two of them in the top six, they have already lost. Both #3 Oklahoma and #6 LSU fell on the day, knocked off by Kansas State and Mississippi State.
Kansas State were down as much as 28-7 in the third quarter only to romp back and win 38-35. Skylar Thompson threw for over 300 yards and had three touchdowns while running back Deuce Vaughan had well over 100 all-purpose yards and a TD. Mississippi State, meanwhile, took down the defending national champions 44-34 and they saw quarterback KJ Costello set an SEC record mark in the win with 623 yards in the air to go along with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Just ridiculous numbers that show the air raid offense can definitely work in the SEC.
