Warriors End Rockets’ Winning Streak

Just days after getting on the back of his own fans (and then apologizing for it), Klay Thompson went a long, long way toward making up for it with his performance in Wednesday night’s 106-104 win over the Houston Rockets. Without Kevin Durant in the lineup and on the road in Houston to a team that had won nine straight, the Warriors looked like the championship level team they are thanks to getting 30 points from Thompson and the best game they’ve seen thus far from Boogie Cousins. Cousins scored 27 points, going quite some distance to quash all of the talk that he and the Warriors do not mesh well together. If this sort of play continues from him, the Rockets and anyone else out West will have an extremely tough time dealing with Golden State. Despite the win for the Warriors, though, there have to be a couple of reservations. Out of four regular season meetings, this was their only win over the Rockets. Yes, it’s the one closest to the playoffs, but it’s still an uncomfortable site. Especially knowing that it’s their opponents who seem to be peaking. However, have they peaked too early? Will the Warriors just keep on doing what they always do? It’s going to be fascinating. James Harden finished with (gulp) 29 points in the loss.
