Wheeler’s Arm, Bat Leads Phillies Past Braves
Zack Wheeler had one of those days on Saturday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. We’ve all been there when we couldn’t go wrong. He was in that kind of mode on this particular day. On the mound, he was brilliant, pitching seven strong innings that saw him allow no runs and only one solitary hit.
In fact, two runners found base during his time on the mound and he struck out ten. The problem was, however, that he didn’t get a lot of run support. That is, until he took matters into his own hands. His RBI single in the fifth gave them a 1-0 lead and he would double in another run an inning later to help his team go on to a 4-0 shutout victory over their division foes.
