With the summer quickly passing and the transfer window pushing ever forward, the 2022/23 European club season is drawing nearer.
The German top flight will begin play in early August, moved up slightly to accommodate the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Bayern Munich are 10-time defending champions, winning the Bundesliga title in each year uninterrupted since 2012/13. The two years prior, Borussia Dortmund had won the league title, but since, Bayern have dominated. Robert Lewandowski, Bayern’s talismanic striker, has been the league’s top goalscorer for five years running, although his time with Bayern may well be up.

When does the Bundesliga break for World Cup 2022?
With the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to be played in November and December (Nov. 21-Dec. 18), leagues around the world will be forced to pause for the biggest sporting event on the planet.
The tournament was moved from its usual summer slot to the winter due to the summer heat in host nation Qatar, which will be welcoming the first World Cup ever held in the Middle East.
The Bundesliga announced it will pause the season in mid-November, with the final fixtures layed on the weekend of Nov. 11-13 and players will then be released from their clubs for international duty on Nov. 14.
The first World Cup matches are on Nov. 21 and Germany plays its first World Cup match on Nov. 23 (4 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. BST) against Japan at Khalifa International Stadium in Group E action.
The Bundesliga then resumes play on Jan. 20, 2023, roughly one month after the FIFA World Cup final scheduled for Dec. 18, and 10 weeks after the initial pause.
