It’s only just emerged that the Minnesota Timberwolves’ current management is up for selling the team, but that has not stopped people from lining up as interested parties. Two such have already emerged according to reports, with both of them having ties to Minnesota. First and foremost, the front-runners are said to be the Wilf family. They are the same family that also owns the Minnesota Vikings, so it would make perfect sense for them to extend their holdings in the area with this purchase.
The other interested party is said to be Kevin Garnett, a former Timberwolves star that went on to be win an NBA title with the Boston Celtics having done little in the way of winning with the team in his tenure there. Garnett is said to be trying to form his own group, as he alone won’t have the financial power to pull this off. This is, supposedly, making him the underdog in this race to buy the team from current owner Glen Taylor. Minority stake owner Meyer Orbach is also said to have placed a bid for the team, so there is considerable interest and it might only be a matter of time before a deal is completed.
