A woman was left mortified as ‘ spider legs’ emerged from her showerhead – but luckily there was a much more innocent explanation.

Maighan Lawson took to Facebook to share her frightening discovery, as she’d found ‘some sort of creature’ living inside her spray nozzle, as the Daily Star reports.

She was inundated with comments from people who said they had experienced the same thing, including one whose daughter screamed ‘bloody murder’ after the sighting.

But soon one person recognised what they were seeing, and pointed out the ‘spider legs’ were actually metal strands, and had emerged due to a plumbing issue.

It’s easy to see why Maighan was alarmed

What do you think about Maighan’s sighting? Let us know in the comments…

Bearing in mind that Maighan lives in Australia, home to some of the most menacing creepy crawlies on Earth, it is understandable why she was a bit concerned.

One of her friends, Kate Rhianna Thomas commented on the image: “I just remember seeing this as a kid and being absolutely mortified thinking there were little creatures with tiny little legs sticking out of our showerhead.”

And Gem Johnson added: “I thought it was spider legs and irrationally thought a whole spider was going to pop out and crawl on me while showering.”

Others weighed in with suggestions such as “my initial thought when I saw this was cockroach legs sticking out”.

Some others had had the same experience. One said: “Had this happen when we moved into our new house that had been vacant for six months. My daughter started screaming bloody murder!

“I was racing around the house in a massive panic thinking someone had lost a body part or worse – only to hear her yelling that we had worms coming out of our shower head. I thought someone died the way she carried on!”

But the good news is, if you see this in your home, you aren’t sharing a bathroom with a family of giant spiders or monster worms.

In fact, it’s a perfectly normal phenomenon most commonly caused when you’ve had some plumbing work done

Facebook group member Liz Mae, explained that the tiny fragments of debris are called “spindles,” and they’re often caused when taps have been reseated or pipework shaved to get a better seal.

“My partner is a plumber and knew straight away,” she added.
