Yankees Pull Away Late, Take Game 1 Over Rays

The final score may not indicate as much, but the New York Yankees had quite a tough game in Game 1 of their ALDS series with the Tampa Bay Rays in San Diego on Monday night. That’s when they busted the game open via a double from Aaron Hicks (who was 3-4 on the night) and a grand slam from Giancarlo Stanton. Gerrit Cole gave up three runs in six solid innings of work, and that proved to be enough for the Yankees, who are the lower seed, to get the edge over their AL East rivals.
