Bay Area police arrest man allegedly in possession of ‘Wolverine-style’ metal knuckles

A man was arrested Thursday in a wooded area near the Joe Rodota Trail after an officer found him allegedly in possession of illegal metal knuckles and drug paraphernalia, according to the Sebastopol Police Department.

The arrest occurred at about 1:40 p.m.  Thursday, Sgt. Salvador Villanueva said Saturday morning.

The officer encountered the man while conducting a routine proactive foot patrol of the area. Police did not respond to a call for service, and the man’s name was not released due to department policy, Villanueva said.

Police said the officer found the man wearing large “Wolverine-style” metal knuckles, which are illegal.

A search also turned up a meth pipe in the man’s pocket, though no drugs were found, according to Villanueva.

Villanueva said the man was also camping illegally near the trail and had been storing trash a short distance from a waterway, leading to an additional arrest related to polluting the waterway.

The man was booked into the county jail on charges related to the weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal camping, police said.

Police said officers regularly patrol the Joe Rodota Trail and surrounding areas to address safety concerns and issues that affect public use of the trail, including trash and other impacts near creeks and waterways.
