  This marks the first US Open semifinal for world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The 23-year-old Italian won the Australian Open in January and advanced to the French Open semifinal in May. Sinner dispatched Daniil Medvedev (who he also defeated to win in Australia) in a four-set quarterfinal win to reach this point.

  Sinner’s opponent, Jack Draper, will be playing in his first-ever semifinal at a major open, as will fellow semifinalist Taylor Fritz. Frances Tiafoe is the only one of the four semifinalist who has reached this point at the US Open before: He made the semifinal at the 2022 US Open, before losing to eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz.
