It turns out that one of the number one skinny-dipping spots is in, none other than, Michigan. Not what you were thinking?

Cool>Law?

This remote part of Michigan is not only ranked as one of the top spots in the entire world to get into the water nude, but it’s a little extra naughty when you find out that, it’s no exactly legal.

Read: it’s illegal.

The 2023 list of top 100 places to skinny dip in the world was released by the dating website, My Dating Adviser.

The Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula ranked at an impressive 31st in the world and even better, 3rd in the United States. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is the largest state park in the state, with more than 60,000 acres.

This park, also known as, “The Porkies,” is located in the western U.P. and has nearly 100 miles of trails. During the study, the dating site also compared 100 nude beaches considering beach quality, safety, weather, and hotel cost.

Did it Happen if you Didn’t see it Happen?

The publication released the list knowing that not all the locations listed are legal and anyone skinny-dipping, does so at their own risk. Manager Mike Knack of Wilderness State Park said basically the same thing, commenting, “Porcupine Mountains has 23 miles of Lake Superior shoreline, so I’m sure in the back country areas, some amount of skinny dipping does happen.”

He finished and said, “That being said, there are a fair amount of hikers on the trails each day and someone may see you. It’s not a highly recommended activity, but I’m sure some people out in the wilderness do wild things.”

Michigan law states that anyone caught for indecent exposure could be charged with a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.00. It’s also considered an unlawful act on land owned by the Michigan DNR.

“Michigan’s 103 state parks are places where people of all ages recreate. Park visitors should keep that in mind,” John Pepin of the Michigan DNR told MLive. “In addition, there are state laws and Michigan Department of Natural Resources land use orders that prohibit public nudity.”
