- Honestly, we would’ve probably thought they were aliens, as well.
So, remember how three whistleblowers recently told Congress that the U.S. government knows about aliens? And that they actually have “non-human biologics” stored somewhere?
Well, it seems some of the aliens have escaped containment and made their way to Peru.
For more than a month now, the residents of a small Peruvian indigenous village have been haunted by “strange beings.” The locals can describe the intruders only with one word — extraterrestrials.
The flying beings are capable of flight, hovering several feet above the ground. They wear strange equipment on their bodies and emit eerie light.
According to the villagers, the supposed aliens aren’t satisfied with only frightening the locals when they come out at night. They also accuse them of attempting to kidnap a young girl.
Did she almost fall victim to alien abduction?
Not quite. According to local media, Peruvian Police and Navy forces have carried out an investigation into the matter and determined that the flying strangers didn’t come from beyond the stars.
Instead, they’re most likely illegal miners flying around on jetpacks in their search for gold.
Which is almost as bizarre as them being little green men.
‘These Gentlemen are Aliens’
The “aliens” first showed up in the northern Peruvian village, populated by the indigenous Ikitu people, on July 11. Frankly, we can’t blame anyone for thinking the flying men suddenly bursting out of the night might be extraterrestrials.
That’s particularly because the beings seemed immune to conventional firearms.
“These gentlemen are aliens,” village leader Jairo Reátegui Ávila told the RPP news outlet. He compared their equipment to that of a famous supervillain.
“Their armor seems like that of Green Goblin from Spider-Man. I shot at one twice and it didn’t fall, it only rose higher and disappeared,” said Ávila.
The description Ávila gave of the creatures’ appearance sure does make them sound like they’re using alien technology. According to him, the aliens’ armor has a silver color and they were round shoes that they use for flight.
“They fly at a height of three feet and there’s a red light that shines at their heels. Their heads are long, their masks are long, and their eyes have a yellowish hue,” explained Ávila.
Initially, they didn’t seem intent on harming the locals. Ávila said they would take a good look at you and then disappear.
“They are experts at escaping,” he said.
However, the intruders soon turned violent. According to the village chief, they attacked a 15-year-old girl, attempting to kidnap her on July 29.
Although the kidnapping was unsuccessful, the girl received wounds to her neck. Fortunately, the locals treated her injuries and she doesn’t seem worse for wear.
Due to the attack, the villagers organized night patrols to drive away any alien attacks. They also requested regional authorities to investigate and provide them with protection.
State-of-the-Art Technology
Perhaps surprisingly, the authorities responded to the villagers’ request. In early August, members of the police and the Peruvian Navy arrived in the area to take testimonies and look into the matter.
However, they didn’t believe aliens were tormenting the villagers. Instead, their initial assumption was that the flying armored men had something to do with drug trafficking.
That wasn’t right either, though. The investigation has now concluded that the “aliens” are most likely engaged in illicit gold mining, reported RPP.
Specialized Environmental Prosecutor Carlos Castro Quintanilla from Loreto believes that criminal organizations from Brazil and Colombia are illegally mining for gold in the area. He said they’re likely using “high-tech equipment” to frighten the locals and keep them away from the mining operation.
Well, the strategy seems to work.
Cristian Caleb Pacaya, a local teacher who witnessed the attempted kidnapping, agrees with the prosecutor. He believes the attacker was a human being wearing some kind of jetpack contraption.
“They use state-of-the-art technology, such as thrusters that allow them to fly. In our opinion, these men are using such suits to reach the places [they’ve been sighted in],” said Pacaya.
The Ikitu village isn’t the only place where illegal gold miners are active. Peruvian Navy reported that it engaged in a firefight with illegal miners on August 5, destroying oil drums and mining equipment.
The Environmental Prosecutor’s Office says it has so far eradicated 10 mining camps and 110 dredging operations this year alone.
Hopefully the villagers of Ikitu receive the help they need to stop the “alien” attacks, as well.
