Alphonso Davies has established himself as a regular starter for German giants Bayern Munich and consequently has become a star for the Canadian national team.
Davies has become not only a dangerous and consistent presence for both sides, but a versatile one, able to play on the wing as either a full-back or a more advanced forward.
His ability to see the field for Canada will be a crucial component of any success Les Rouges will enjoy at the 2022 World Cup.
That availability is now up in the air after he suffered an injury in early October while on club duty.

Alphonso Davies suffers skull bruise in Der Klassiker
According to Bayern Munich, Alphonso Davies suffered a “cranial bruise” while in action against rivals Borussia Dortmund on October 8.
The club announced that he suffered the injury in a clash just before halftime with Jude Bellingham where Davies was “caught in the face by the boot” of the Dortmund midfielder.
As a result, Davies was substituted off at halftime, with Josip Stanisic coming on. Bayern blew a 2-0 lead in the match, with Kingsley Coman sent off in the 90th minute leading to Anthony Modeste scoring a 95th-minute equalizer.

Will Alphonso Davies be healthy for the World Cup?
Bayern Munich did not give a timetable for Davies’ injury, only saying that the Canadian “is feeling good in the circumstances” but was unable to train on Sunday.
Unless Davies suffered a concussion alongside the bruise, he should likely be back in a week or two. However, if Davies did suffer a concussion, his return could be more questionable.
The Bayern injury release did not indicate any more serious damage.
Alphonso Davies injury history
Davies missed significant time last season after suffering a heart condition following a COVID-19 infection.
This caused the Canadian to miss a significant chunk of not only the Bayern club season but also Canada’s journey through CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. Canada won four and lost two while Davies was sidelined, including a home victory over the United States. They also lost 1-0 at home to both Panama and Costa Rica.
In 2020, Davies missed 10 club matches after suffering a torn ankle ligament. Otherwise, he has remained relatively healthy throughout his young career.
