When you are faced with an annoying neighbour who goes out of their way to irritate you, it might feel tempting to retaliate. But as most people will advise, it is best not to stoop to their level. After all, two wrongs don’t make a right.
However, one man who may disagree has boasted about all the things he does to get revenge on his “overbearing” neighbours. And it is fair to say people were shocked when the man revealed his story, as many were quick to suggest he had taken things too far – as he was dubbed the “neighbour from hell”.

The shocking tale came to light after the man took to Reddit, outlining the feud between himself and his neighbours. But he did not ask for advice, as is typical of the forum his post was shared to; instead the post simply listed his annoying antics, as if he took pride in them.
The man began by explaining: “My wife (40f) and I (48m)bought a house 5 years ago in a typical neighbourhood, nothing to exciting goes on here. There is an old couple (mid 60s).
“They were nice enough at first, a little overbearing bit what are you going to do, they are old. They would always make passive aggressive comments about my leaves, my lawn, who was parked on the street in front of our houses, he even went as far as telling me I should reroute my eavestroughs because the spring thaw was causing an ice block on his gate to his backyard.”
However, the man did not take a sympathetic approach, stating that the problem was caused by an error the neighbour’s had made, before quipping: “Somehow its my problem to fix”. But this would not be the last issue the neighbours faced.
“We got a puppy during the first 6 months of the pandemic, it was obvious they weren’t happy about it. During our attempt at kennel training that summer I forgot to close the windows when I made a run to the store and our puppy was very vocal while I was gone for 20 min,” the man wrote.
He went onto say that one of the neighbours approached him on his return but “wouldn’t shut up long enough for me to apologize for it so I turned my back on her and walked in the house.”
And tensions came to a boiling point after the man swore at his neighbour.
He claimed: “I was out one day listening to music and hanging Christmas lights, I wasn’t even out there 10 minutes and she stuck her head out her door telling me my music is too loud and to turn it down. I told her that her and her ‘good idea committee’ can f*** right off… and so it begins!”
“From this point on it has been a Rollercoaster of bulls***, they zig, we zag,” he explains.
The man’s post then outlined the ways in which he tries to annoy his neighbours.
“I have not been a considerate neighbour since. I am not breaking any laws or bylaws but I am doing things that bug the s*** out of him,” he wrote. “I enjoy suntaning [sic], so I got a thong speedo, they hate it.
“We have karaoke parties on our back deck, I pull my work bench (with a table saw and a mitresaw built into it) out on the driveway to cut wood, before I was courteous and kept it in my garage before, not anymore!”
However, commenters did not share much sympathy for the man’s problem, instead criticising his treatment of his neighbours. One person wrote: “You both sound awful honestly.”
A second said: “Maybe you should self reflect on what in your life is lacking that deliberately making someone else miserable is giving you joy.” And another simply wrote: “Pot meet kettle.”
