Apple Music Adds Ability to Sing Along to Tens of Millions of Songs

Karaoke lovers around the world just got a holiday gift from Apple in the form of Apple Music Sing(Opens in a new window).

Later this month, the Apple Music app will allow users to sing along with tens of millions of songs complete with real-time lyrics. Apple also promises the number of available songs in this new karaoke mode will continue to grow over time.

Apple Music Sing can be used by anyone around the world who has an active Apple Music subscription. Device support includes iPhones, iPads, and the new Apple TV 4K for those of you who want to hold a karaoke party this Christmas with friends and family.

The new feature allows you to adjust the volume of the original artist’s voice, while background vocals are animated independently to make it easy for users to follow along. Real-time lyrics should ensure singers always know what word comes next, and there’s also a duet view, which shows multiple vocalists on opposite sides of the screen.

Apple Music subscribers will be free to select which songs they want to sing along to, but Apple Music Sing is launching with more than 50 dedicated companion playlists. They will focus on “epic songs, duets, choruses, and anthems,” and all are optimized for this karaoke experience.
