While the next release of the Apple Watch is expected to be relatively minor, the company is reportedly working on a revamp of the device for its 10th anniversary.
Called “Watch X,” the wearable will mark a decade of Apple’s smartwatch with its “biggest overhaul yet,” Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says in his weekly PowerOn newsletter. As he notes, the original Apple Watch was unveiled in 2014 and went on sale in 2015, so look for the Apple Watch X in 2024 or 2025.

Designers are working on creating a thinner watch case and are looking to change how bands connect to the device, Gurman says. Specifically, the current way the watch bands attach takes up space in the wearable’s chassis that could be used for a bigger battery or other components. With the revamp, Apple might move to a magnetic band attachment system.
Additionally, Gurman says he expects Apple to add technology for monitoring your blood pressure using the watch as well as a microLED display that will provide improved color and clarity over the current models.
Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch Series 9 on Sept. 12. That event promises an incremental update to the Apple Watch Series 8. Rumors and leaks point to the device keeping the same size as current models, at 41 and 45 millimeters. It’s also expected to see a faster processor and new color options, with support for watchOS 10.

At the same event, Apple will likely announce the iPhone 15. Every version of the phone is expected to have a Dynamic Island rather than a notch at the top, as well as a smaller bezel, better cameras, and a USB-C charging port rather than Apple’s proprietary Lightning charger.
Rumors last week also pointed to the phone potentially having 2TB of maximum storage, which would be the most storage ever offered on an iPhone.
