Apple Watch Ultra Repairs Cost $499

If you’re planning on buying an Apple Watch Ultra without an AppleCare+ plan, brace yourself for the cost of repairs if you happen to damage the smartwatch.

The $799 Apple Watch Ultra is designed to withstand rugged environments and intense outdoor exercise/extreme sports. However, that does mean it’s going to be put in situations where the chance of being damaged is much higher.

So how much will repairing that damage cost? $499 if you don’t have an AppleCare+ plan.

As MacRumors discovered(Opens in a new window), Apple’s Watch Service and Repair page(Opens in a new window) allows you to check the estimated cost of getting the smartwatch repaired. If it’s just the battery that needs replacing, then you’ll pay $99. However, the estimate for “other damage” repairs, which includes the titanium case, display, buttons, sensors, or other components, is $499.

Depending on how severe the damage is, some would probably consider just buying a brand new Ultra instead when faced with the choice.

Opting for AppleCare+ will significantly reduce those repair costs. It’s $99 for two years of coverage (or $4.99 per month) including that new feature of unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection. And rather than being hit with a $499 repair bill, you’ll pay just $79 per repair. The battery replacement fee of $99 remains the same regardless of whether you have AppleCare+ or not.
