Liverpool have endured a mixed start to the campaign, but victory here will move them to within eight points of Arsenal, having played one game less.

Arsenal vs. Liverpool lineups

Defender Cedric Soares could still be out for Arsenal with a knock picked up during a training session, while midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been absent with a hamstring problem.

Winger Reiss Nelson returned to the matchday squad for the Europa League match at home to Bodo/Glimt on Thursday. Midfielder Emile Smith Rowe had surgery on a groin issue and will not return until December.

Four midfielders are unlikely to feature: Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set to remain on the sidelines for some time through injury, while Curtis Jones and Kaide Gordon were also absent against Rangers.

Arsenal vs. Liverpool betting odds

When Liverpool went through the gears to win 2-0 with two second-half goals at the Emirates Stadium in March, it took them a point behind City at the top of the table and earned them their fourth win in what’s been a five-match unbeaten run against Arsenal.

That explains why Arsenal are only narrow favourites to win despite their form and Liverpool’s failure to win in four attempts on the road so far this season, including a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Napoli last time out, and a goal-less draw at Everton in the Premier League, failing to pick up a victory since August.

The draw, which is placed as the outside result, would do little to help either side.
