Best Buy offers a protection plan for many of its electronics: Accidental Geek Squad Protection. For a one-time fee added at the time of purchase, this covers issues such as accidental damage while handling, one-time battery replacement if the battery no longer holds a charge, power-surge damage, and fixing bad pixels. The details of each plan are slightly different depending on the tech covered, and plans are available in two-year and three-year increments, extending the lifespan of the manufacturer’s warranty. It’s well worth the cost for the peace of mind that your tech will be covered, and you can avoid the oftentimes expensive cost of parts and labor at a repair place.
