Prime Day 2023 falls on July 11-12, which gives us less than a week to prepare for one of the biggest two-day sales events of the year. While many enthusiasts might prefer to shop on the Dell or HP websites, Amazon carries a selection of desktops from a variety of brands, too.

Desktops may not be as portable as laptops, but they can’t be beat when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck. They’re also much easier to DIY. Many towers feature tool-less access so you can add RAM or upgrade the graphics card. For those who are more hands-on, a desktop is especially convenient because you can pick out each individual part to maximize performance within the constraints of your wallet.
Those who are less inclined to open up their tower and poke around still have a good number of options when it comes to making their setup just right. Hard-drive size (we would recommend an SSD due to their superior speeds) and RAM are important, as they’ll dictate how many programs your desktop can store and run, respectively. As for graphics cards, we suggest going for at least an RTX 3060, which won’t break the bank but can still run modern titles without suffering performance issues. And no desktop setup is complete without a decent monitor—the resolution and refresh rate of which will determine how much of your GPU you can really utilize.
