Bills vs. Chiefs live score, updates, highlights from NFL Week 6 game

Week 6 of the NFL season features an AFC Divisional rematch (and, potentially, another AFC Championship preview).

The Bills and Chiefs have both been outstanding this season, with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen living up to their hype. Both sides come in 4-1 in divisions with teams scrambling to catch them but ultimately coming up short so far this year. They’ve looked dominant at times, with the Bills only suffering a loss to the Dolphins and the Chiefs losing to the Colts.

Both teams came into this year with Super Bowl aspirations, and this game will be a huge gut check for them both. Ultimately, it could well come down to who commits the last turnover.

These two teams, of course, played one of the most thrilling postseason games in NFL history last season, a Chiefs win in overtime that features a furious 13-second comeback from Kansas City. We’ll see who comes out on top this time around.

The Bills currently lead the league in yards per game at 440.4, whereas the Chiefs are sixth at 390.4. The Chiefs are fielding a different-looking team this year without Tyreek Hill in tow, but Mahomes has been more than comfortable throwing to Travis Kelce in his stead.

This game has the potential to be extremely high-scoring as these two offenses square off. The Sporting News will be covering the action live from Kansas City.

Bills vs. Chiefs live updates, highlights from Week 6

(All times Eastern.)

5:19 p.m. — Allen again finds Diggs in space on an out and sit route, and they’re at the Chiefs 47-yard line again.

5:18 p.m. — Something Tony Romo said about this game was very prescient. This game being low-scoring shouldn’t be stunning because both of these offenses are forced to sustain drives against these defenses, who planned for great offense. Something to look out for as the Bills continue to sustain a drive.

5:12 p.m. — Chiefs score on the new-life third down! Mahomes finds JuJu Smith-Schuster for 42 yards and six points after a heck of a scramble. Chiefs land the first blow. Chiefs 7, Bills 3

5:10 p.m. — A near Bills stop is offset by dueling holding calls, and it’s third-and-10 again for the Chiefs.

5:08 p.m. — The Chiefs are once again moving the ball well, as Mahomes finds Kelce after a pair of runs pick up a first down. Big gain there for the Chiefs to get to the Bills 42. Both teams are living in each other’s territory.

5:02 p.m. — McKenzie was just absolutely flattened by Reid on third down to force an incompletion, but he would’ve been short regardless. The Bills convert a 39-yard field goal. Bills 3, Chiefs 0

5:01 p.m. — A big run from the Bills gets wiped out by a hold and after starting first-and-13, they’ll have third-and-8. Once again: Inopportune mistakes are hurting these very good teams.

4:56 p.m. — The first quarter ends 0-0, with both defenses doing a lot of bending but no breaking. Bills will start the second just outside the Chiefs red zone at the 22.

4:55 p.m. — Bills love to let Allen run. First he scrambles through a few arm tackles to pick up nine. Then on third down they run a naked play action bootleg to convert for a fresh set of down.

4:53 p.m. — The Bills come out aggressive and Allen finds Diggs for 31 yards out of play action. Good looking play into space from the Bills to capitalize early on the turnover.

4:50 p.m. — On third down, the Bills return the favor to KC with a fantastic pick from Kaiir Elam! Elam snatched it one-handed on the way down, and both offenses turn it over in the red zone forcing it after moving the ball well. Tough break there for KC, but the Bills will get it from the 20 and do it again.

4:46 p.m. — The Chiefs go for it on fourth-and-2 and Mahomes scrambles down to the Bills’ 8-yard line. Nothing there on the dropback so he created for himself. Mahomes isn’t as quick to tuck and run as Allen is, but he makes it count.

4:43 p.m. — On both sides, the offenses are moving the ball extremely well. Mistakes are going to loom large, as the Chiefs continue to get yards in bunches. Mahomes zips an insane side-arm throw into Valdes-Scantling for a touchdown that got wiped out by an illegal man downfield. That throw was absurd, but it’s not a play.

4:41 p.m. — Mahomes finds Mecole Hardman on a flag route out of the bunch. Awesome play design there from the Chiefs to get Hardman open for 26 yards and into Bils territory.

4:39 p.m. — The Chiefs go straight to the ground with Clyde Edwards-Helaire before Mahomes hits his favorite target Travis Kelce for a first down.

4:35 p.m. — An apparent fumble gets ruled incomplete and then switched back to a fumble! Chiefs will get the ball after a play that was apparently too cute by half. Bills ran a play action to Isaiah McKenzie and shoveled it to him after the fake. McKenzie wasn’t ready to field it and it squirted loose, and the Chiefs strike the first real blow of this game. They’ll have it at their own 11-yard line.

4:33 p.m. — Justin Reid is already back in the game after missing a play, but it doesn’t matter who’s out there. Allen hits Stefon Diggs for another first down to the Chiefs 16.

4:30 p.m. — Bills offense is looking confident early, and is already in Kansas City territory with a few nice runs from Devin Singletary. Versatility is key, and we have a TV timeout with a Chiefs player down on the field.

4:28 p.m. — Bills quiet the KC crowd early with a nice scramble and dart from Allen to Gabe Davis for a first down. Davis found a soft spot in the secondary and made it count.

4:25 p.m. — The Chiefs are kicking off to start the game, with Harrison Butker back in action. And we are under way at Arrowhead after a touchback.

4 p.m. — Welcome to Bills vs. Chiefs in a rematch of the AFC Divisional thriller from last year! Here are the inactives for the game:
