Brazil will launch their bid for a sixth world title as many pundits tip for glory at the 2022 World Cup.
Tite’s well-stocked and gifted squad were already among the favourites and early slip-ups from Argentina and Germany have only heightened the sense that the Selecao are ready to go all the way for the first time in 20 years.
Neymar has endured mixed fortunes on the global stage, but he remains his country’s attacking inspiration and has been in superb form for Paris Saint-Germain this season.
He now has the likes of Vinicius Jr, Richarlison and Raphinha to share the attacking load, meaning Tite might loosen the shackles and show us a version of Brazil in Qatar that aligns with the popular imagination of football fans the world over.
Here, we look at how the latest team news is shaping up as they prepare to share Group G with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.

Brazil projected lineup vs Serbia
(4-1-4-1, right to left): 1. Alisson (GK) — 2. Danilo, 3. Silva, 4. Marquinhos, 6. Alex Sandro — 5. Casemiro — 11. Raphinha, 7. Paqueta, 10. Neymar, 20. Vinicius Jr — 9. Richarlison
- Injured: none
- Suspended: none
Photographs from a Brazil training session leaked by Marca suggested Vinicius Junior is primed for a starting berth against Serbia, who topped a qualifying group featuring Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
Raphinha is set to line up on the opposite flank, with Neymar and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta supporting Richarlison in attack.
That would leave Casemiro as the lone holding midfielder and put Manchester United colleague Fred among the substitutes.
Alisson is expected to get the nod over Ederson in goal. Danilo and Alex Sandro should be the fullbacks either side of experienced duo Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.
