A woman who demanded a refund on her restaurant steak pie has left Brits baffled – as many struggled to understand her claim that the meal was “too large”. The woman’s refund request was reported online by another patron in the restaurant at the time, who overheard the woman tell her waiter that she “wasn’t warned” the steak pie would come with “so much mash and veg”.
But the woman’s demand for her money back has left people online in stitches, with many of them stating there’s simply no such thing as a pie that’s “too large”, and insisting that even if she couldn’t manage the whole thing, it would have been easy to box it up and take it home with her.

A post shared on Reddit read: “Right now, I am in a nice restaurant, listening to a woman complaining to the manager that her steak pie is too large, and she wants a refund. She wasn’t warned the pie came with so much mash and veg. She will just share her husband’s pie – Remove This Pie!”
In follow-up comments, the person who shared the post said the woman was “very clear” that she wouldn’t be paying for the pie, and therefore refused to take any of her meal home in a “doggie bag”.
They added: “The lady with the Hyacinth Bucket outfit does not carry pie in a bag! Also, she would have to pay for it then, and she is absolutely not going to be paying for it, she made that very clear indeed.”
The post received over 50 comments from baffled Brits who struggled to wrap their heads around the concept of any pie being “too large”, as many of them began to poke fun at the woman’s confusing statements.
One person said: “I’m sorry, I don’t understand this concept of any pie being ‘too large’.”
While another added: “Chuck her a few quid and take the pie off her hands.”
And a third wrote: “Insult to pies everywhere!”
Others also used the post to share their stories of equally baffling things they’d witnessed while working in the hospitality industry – including one customer who had complained his soup was “too hot”.
Someone said: “I used to work in hospitality and a man once complained that his soup was too hot. People are crazy.”
As someone else shared: “I sat in a restaurant one time and listened to a woman who came in with a work party complain that her steak was smaller than the others. The poor waitress tried explaining to her that hers was smaller because she asked for it well done, but this was completely lost on the woman.”
