Buccaneers’ Devin White gets petty when discussing former teammate Jameis Winston

White noise?

Buccaneers linebacker Devin White was in his first year in the league when he had a front-row seat for the Jameis Winston Experience. In 2019, which would wind up being Winston’s last year in Tampa Bay, the quarterback threw 30 touchdowns — and also threw 30 interceptions, becoming the founding member of the NFL’s quite infamous 30-30 club.

That year seems to have been stuck in the craw of White, who took shots at Winston following the Bucs’ 20-10 victory Sunday over the Saints and their former passer.

When Jameis left our team, everybody knows what he did that last year. We feel like we had a great defense then, and he threw 30 picks. We just knew he would give us the ball, we knew the running backs would cough it up. That’s something we came in talking about: We want 30 turnovers as a ballclub ourselves, so it just was another game to attack the ball.

Winston took the field, reportedly with fractured vertebrae, and proceeded to throw three interceptions, including a fourth-quarter pick-six, against his former team. Coincidentally, it was a hit that White put on Winston in 2021 that knocked the quarterback out for the season.

This is the first time the Buccaneers have beaten the Saints in the regular season since 2018, so it must feel a bit sweet for White and the Bucs to notch a win against their division rival.

So, yes, it might be sweet, but it looks as though White has plenty to be salty about still.
