After a week of competition, the winner of Group A comes down to Monday night, as Canada and Finland square off in their final contest of group play.
Canada enters the matchup coming off a win on Saturday against Czechia. Mason McTavish scored two goals, Kent Johnson successfully completed the Michigan goal and Tyson Foerster and Ridly Greig each potted tallies in the win to push Canada to 3-0-0-0 in Group A.
Czechia grabbed the early lead thanks to a shorthanded goal by Martin Rysavy, putting Canada down for the first time in the tournament. But Canada rattled off five consecutive goals to put Czechia away.

“It’s just a little bit of adversity. And that’s OK in these games,” Canada forward Brennan Othmann said. “I think that builds more character for the important games, elimination games. And it just shows that we’re resilient. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, we’re going to keep going.”
Finland will be the toughest opponent Canada has seen so far. The Finns are one point behind Canada in the standings, after needing a shootout to beat Czechia. The team is fresh off a 9-3 win over Slovakia on Sunday.
