The two best women’s hockey teams in the world go head-to-head on Tuesday afternoon as Canada and the United States meet for the final game of the preliminary round at the 2022 Women’s World Championship.
To no one’s surprise, both teams enter the contest undefeated in the tournament thus far, and the winner of this matchup determines the top seed in Group A. The two squads have already collected victories over Finland, Switzerland and Japan.
Canada comes into Tuesday’s game off a 9-0 thumping of Japan on Sunday. The team is outscoring its opponents 17-2 through three games, with Sarah Fillier leading the way in points with six. Marie-Philip Poulin and Blayre Turnbull have registered five points so far.

Taylor Heise leads the tournament in points with eight. Behind her are Alex Carpenter and Kendall Coyne Schofield, who each have recorded seven.
It’s a rematch of the 2021 gold-medal game at the Women’s World Championship. Poulin potted the game-winning goal in overtime to give Canada its 11th gold medal at the event. The winner of the contest claims the top spot in the knockout stage.
