- This may be a weird holiday but these dips are delicious anyhow.
April 18th is National Animal Cracker day and these dips are the perfect way to enjoy these crackers err, cookies. What’s your favorite way to eat animal crackers?
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Who doesn’t love this stuff? Well, me for one, but it seems I’m the only one! An animal cracker and a scoop of this chocolate crack are the perfect snack. But if you’d rather have chocolate with something else, make sure to keep reading.
Chocolate and PB
If you don’t like chocolate and hazelnut, what about chocolate and peanut butter? This combination of savory and sweet can go with almost anything, so why not have it with an animal cracker. Or several, of course.
Melted PB and Jelly
The reason for the melting is this, it’s heavenly. Just a few seconds in the microwave for your jelly/jam/preserves/spread and scoop of peanut butter and it’s perfect for dipping. The animal cracker serves as the bread would but in a sweet and crunchy way.
Frosting
For plain animal crackers, the ones without the pink or white frosting and sprinkles, why not add your own? Any frosting would work with these blank slate like cookies and adding your own sprinkles may end up being your favorite part! For an extra creamy frosting, you can throw that in the microwave to warm it up a bit as well.
Cherry Pie Filling
If you love cherry pie, you’re going to love this combination, too. Animal crackers have a sweeter taste than a traditional pie crust and the crunch of a snack, plus it’s more fun to eat when it’s a dip! Sprinkle some ground graham crackers as well for color and that pie feeling.
Vanilla Greek Yogurt
For a healthier and equally delicious snack, dip your animal crackers in vanilla Greek yogurt and you will love it. Adding things like caramel and apples or even melted chocolate and some crushed nuts would take this dip to a new level. Beyond that, there’s a lot of protein hidden in Greek yogurt, creating the ultimate snack balance.
Pudding
Dip an animal cracker into a chocolate pudding and enjoy every minute of it! Pudding can have such a light feel but rich taste and pairs deliciously with animal crackers.
Lemon Curd
Fresh citrus flavors absolutely stun and if you take an animal cracker and dip it into lemon curd and eat it, you will be in lemon heaven. Top it off with a raspberry or blueberry and your mouth will know what summer tastes like.
Pumpkin Pie Dip
For all the pumpkin lovers out there, and there are a lot of them, why not dunk your animal crackers into a dip that tastes like pumpkin pie? What could be better?
What things do you want to dip animal crackers into? These are some of the best ways but comment your favorites!
