Charles Barkley TNT contract breakdown: NBA TV analyst agrees to massive new 10-year deal

Despite rumblings that he could move on to a different network or retire at the age of 60, Charles Barkley has reaffirmed his commitment to Warner Bros. Discovery Sports with a new, 10-year contract.

In addition to Barkley, each member of the “Inside the NBA” crew also signed long-term deals, meaning Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith will continue to work together on the NBA’s award-winning studio show.

“We’re all a big family. Ernie, Kenny and Shaquille are brothers to me, and I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for them and all the amazing people who work on our show,” said Barkley in a press release. “I’m not gonna lie, though, this is a life-altering deal…and I’m blessed to be able to do live television for a living.”

While the success of “Inside the NBA” is a sum of all the parts, Barkley is one of the biggest stars in sports media, let alone TNT’s NBA coverage. As such, his reported salary to remain involved with the network is of historic proportions for a studio analyst.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Barkley is worth $50 million. The true figure of Barkley’s net worth could be much higher as the Hall of Famer made over $40 million during his NBA career and reportedly earned $10 million annually in recent years working as a studio analyst.

Barkley also has a number of endorsements, including Capital One, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Subway. Barkley also has other business endeavors, which include his production company, Round Mound Media.

As news of Barkley’s new contract began to surface, Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reported that the deal was worth “well over $100 million.” Marchand’s reporting includes language that further details the extent of Barkley’s deal, should he remain with the network for the duration.

The exact amount Barkley will make is not yet known if he fulfills the entire contract, but it will be well in excess of $100 million and could approach $200 million. Barkley could decide to retire from TV before the deal ends.

The exact annual salary is difficult to nail down, but with Barkley earning $10 million in recent years, his new salary could be between $15 and $19 million annually.

His previously reported salary as a TNT analyst exceeds any one year of his playing career and his new contract could come with an annual salary that doubles the money from his best year as a player.
