It’s Matchweek 2 of the new Premier League season and we’ve already got our first battle of the ‘Big Six’ with Chelsea hosting rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues notched a narrow 1-0 win over Everton in their season opener, while Spurs ran riot against Southampton in a 4-1 triumph at home.
While Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski all looked sharp against Saints, Chelsea’s front three struggled to get going with new arrival Raheem Sterling playing down the middle flanked by Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.
Chelsea didn’t concede a goal in their 2-0 and 3-0 Premier League meetings with Spurs last season, or their 3-0 aggregate-goal triumph in the Carabao Cup semifinals. But Conte’s side looks to be a different beast right now and poses a much tougher task.
The Sporting News is following the Chelsea-Tottenham match live and providing live score updates and commentary.

Chelsea vs. Tottenham live updates, highlights from Premier League clash
70 mins to kickoff: Tottenham were very impressive in their 4-1 win over Southampton on opening weekend. Dejan Kulusevski was one of the best players on the pitch – will he start again today? Or will Antonio Conte pack the centre of the pitch with another central midfielder?

80 mins to kickoff: Will Marc Cucurella be handed his first start as a Chelsea player this afternoon? The former Barcelona left back was impressive off the bench against Everton. Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling are expected to start once again for the Blues.
90 mins to kickoff: It will be interesting to see if Thomas Tuchel sticks with the same XI that started at Goodison Park last weekend. Chelsea got the three points in a 1-0 win over Everton, but they played like a team that is still figuring some things out, particularly in attack.
100 mins to kickoff: The heat at Stamford Bridge could be a factor in this afternoon’s match. It is genuinely very warm. There will be cooling breaks, just as there has been throughout the Premier League this weekend.

110 mins to kickoff: Chelsea and Tottenham both started their 2022/23 Premier League campaigns with wins on opening weekend. This, however, will be a better gauge of where these two teams are and how strong they are right now.
Two hours to kickoff: The big theme of this match will be whether Tottenham can show they are more competitive against Chelsea than they were last season (outscored 8-0 over four matches). Here’s what the two coaches had to say about it.
“I’m not a journalist, you can tell better than me” 😂

Tuchel on Conte’s comments last season about a gap between Chelsea and Tottenham: “I don’t believe everything Antonio Conte says before and after games.
“I admire him a lot and I believe every team he trains competes for everything. This is what he proves right now.” #CFC

Chelsea vs. Tottenham predicted lineups
Kalidou Koulibaly was substituted during the second half at Everton, but Tuchel confirmed the former Napoli defender was merely suffering from cramps. That means left wingback Marc Cucurella might have to wait a little longer for a full debut, especially after Ben Chilwell impressed on his first start since suffering a serious knee injury last November.
Tuchel might be tempted to reconfigure his forward line, in shape if not in terms of personnel after Kai Havertz failed to make much of an impression on the left of the front three in the 1-0 win on Merseyside.
Chelsea predicted lineup (3-4-3, right to left): Mendy (GK) — Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly — James, Jorginho, Kante, Chilwell — Mount, Sterling, Havertz
Five of Antonio Conte’s summer signings had to be content with a place on the bench against Southampton on opening weekend and the Spurs manager is unlikely to see any reason to change after such an emphatic display.
Richarlison is available after suspension but is likely to join the substitutes given how lethal Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane looked in tandem.
Tottenham predicted lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Romero, Dier, Davies — Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon — Kulusevski, Kane, Son
