‘Chronicles of a Confession’ Adds ‘Dope’ Team, A ‘Fire’ Production on the Horizon!

Date:

Heads up, film buffs! The upcoming feature ‘Chronicles of a Confession’ is officially bringing in some seriously ‘dope’ talent, with Kavita Gupta’s U.S.-based Cineroost jumping on board as a producer. This move solidifies a power-packed team, as Cineroost joins well-known names Payal Kapadia and Anurag Kashyap on the project. Filming is set to kick off in early November, and the buzz around this production is already hitting different. Cineroost’s involvement will primarily cover global representation and crucial U.S. market strategies, ensuring this film gets the spotlight it deserves.

Penned by Vidur Nauriyal, the director Prateek Vats, and Shubham, the drama promises a deep dive into human nature, centering on a Kashmiri shawl seller who makes a startling admission to a crime he insists he didn’t commit. This false confession then unleashes a chain of events that nobody saw coming, making for a truly gripping narrative. The script’s quality is ‘for real’ too; it earned a nod from the Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Cinema Fund under its prestigious script development strand, which is no small feat, let me tell you.

Director Prateek Vats is no newbie to critical acclaim either. His breakout film, ‘Eeb Allay Ooo!’, was a legit sensation, making its world premiere at the Pingyao Film Festival in 2019. That same year, it snagged the Golden Gateway award at the Mumbai Film Festival. The film’s impressive run continued with screenings at the Berlinale in 2020 and even made its way to Tribeca’s first online edition, showcasing Vats’ unique voice and storytelling prowess that clearly resonates with audiences and critics alike.

The creative and producing base for ‘Chronicles of a Confession’ stretches across India, the U.S., and the U.A.E., making it a truly global endeavor. Ranjan Singh of Flip Films, known for projects like ‘Songs of Forgotten Trees,’ is producing alongside Dubai’s Action Filmz, India’s Etched Films, and Khan & Kumar Productions. On top of that, both Anurag Kashyap and Payal Kapadia are serving as executive producers, with Kashyap expressing serious envy for the script. He even joked he wanted to ‘steal it’ but settled for jumping on board, high-key praising the association with Kapadia and Singh.

This ‘fire’ production boasts an ‘on point’ technical team, ensuring the visual and auditory experience is top-notch. Anand Bansal, who worked on films like ‘The Elephant Whisperers,’ is behind the camera as the Director of Photography. Rajesh Thanickan is stepping in as supervising producer, while Devika Dave is handling production design, bringing her expertise from projects like ‘Sherni.’ Himani Dehalvi is tasked with costumes, and Bigyna Dahal, known for his work on ‘The Fable,’ is taking charge of sound design. It’s a squad that knows how to deliver, no cap.

Kavita Gupta’s involvement through Cineroost is a game-changer. She’s got history, having done her earliest film projects with Anurag Kashyap 13 years ago, and they’ve remained tight. Gupta shared that everything about ‘Chronicles of a Confession’ – the strong writing, the best creators, and a stellar global creative team – aligns perfectly with her vision for Cineroost: rare, global, and deeply rooted. For her, doing business from films isn’t just about sustenance; it’s genuinely ‘for my soul and passion,’ which, according to her, gives her the privilege to flirt with risk more than others.

Gupta also articulated her desire to step out from the shadows, nurturing creative voices and building bridges between divergent worlds. ‘Chronicles of a Confession’ is clearly a major step in building out Cineroost’s slate and a testament to her commitment to enabling stories that truly matter. With such a talented and passionate team now on board, this film is shaping up to be an absolute must-see. Get ready, folks, because early November is gonna be when this ‘sick’ project officially gets rolling! If you enjoyed this article, share it with your friends or leave us a comment!
