When you get down to the nitty gritty of scrubbing your oven, Shirley recommends pairing her wonder ingredient with white vinegar as they act as the ultimate pairing to break down grease and grime.
She says: “Cleaning your oven overnight with baking soda and white vinegar is one of the most effective combinations when it comes to keeping your oven clean”.
Explaining every step of the process, Shirley adds: “Use a bit of water and mix it with the baking soda to create a paste. Rub the paste on the inside of your oven. Don’t forget the racks and the glass door too. Ensure everything is coated really well and let it sit overnight.
“The next day, the baking soda mixture should be completely dry. Fill an empty spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar and spray the inside of your oven really well. Close the oven door and let it sit”.
Once the mixture has been left to took for one to two hours, you can then take a sponge or cloth to gently rub away dirt, moving in circular motions for the best results.
Shirley added: “You’ll be surprised that all the grease is coming off easy. Rinse off the rag, and make sure all traces of the baking soda mixture are gone. However, if it’s been too long since you last cleaned your oven, you may have to repeat the procedure”.
