No team among the top 10 college football teams in the country lost on Saturday, the first time that has happened since Week 3 of the season.
Indeed, most teams took care of business against their competition, with all but one winning by multiple scores. The lone exception was top-ranked Alabama, which played arguably its worst game of the season in a 24-20 victory over Texas A&M.
The Crimson Tide got three passing touchdowns out of backup quarterback Jalen Milroe, but also two fumbles. He also threw an interception, while running back Jase McClellan added another fumble. The Aggies scored three times off Bama turnovers, and took the game down to the wire with a heavily criticized last-second go-ahead touchdown attempt.
Alabama’s near miss wasn’t the only notable game on Saturday. No. 18 UCLA beat No. 11 Utah 42-32 behind the play of quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who completed 18 of 23 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns to one interception (he also added a rushing score).

No. 13 Kentucky wasn’t able to beat South Carolina without starting quarterback Will Levis, falling 24-14; Notre Dame won its third straight game, beating No. 16 BYU 28-20 in Las Vegas; No. 17 TCU beat No. 19 Kansas in controversial fashion to remain undefeated; and Arizona State beat No. 21 Washington in perhaps the upset of the week.
And, even though it wasn’t a matchup of top-25 teams, Texas demolished Oklahoma 49-0, the biggest win in this series ever for the Longhorns. They accomplished that with the return of Quinn Ewers, who returned from a clavicle sprain to complete 21 of 31 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns to one interception.
