Both teams got wins over FCS opponents in Week 1 but they were drastically different. NC State struggled mightily against Western Carolina. Tennessee blitzed Chattanooga and quickly made it clear the Mocs had no chance.
Given Tennessee’s passing attack, NC State’s chances hinge on its defense playing much better than it did in Week 1.
Both teams had more trouble than expected against their opponents in Week 1. Boise State needed a 21-point run to put Georgia Southern away and Oregon eked out a 24-14 win over Idaho.
Ashton Jeanty went off for 267 yards and six touchdowns in the Broncos’ opener, and he’ll surely be the focus for Oregon’s defense. New Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel was 41-of-49 passing in Week 1 but averaged just 7.6 yards an attempt.

South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers is in the locker room with what coach Shane Beamer said was a lower-body injury. He’s been replaced by former Auburn QB Robby Ashford. The Gamecocks lead Kentucky 7-0 at the start of the second quarter.
In non-ranked action, Maryland has taken an early lead on Michigan State.

While that game wrapped up, the second wave of games kicked and there’s already been plenty of action. Utah has taken an early 14-0 lead thanks to two passing touchdowns from Cam Rising. They’re driving for a third now.

The Cowboys stop Arkansas on 4th down to seal the comeback victory, 39-31, in double overtime!

No field goal try this time. Ollie Gordon punches in the TD from 12 yards out for the Cowboys to start 2OT! And the required 2-point try is GOOD on Allan Bowman’s pass to Gordon. Cowboys lead 39-31.

With a shot to win it, Logan Ward’s 41-yard field goal goes wide right in Oklahoma State’s overtime try. And we will play a second OT as it remains 31-31!
Arkansas FG attempt is NO GOOD
Arkansas got the ball first in overtime, but a big sack on 3rd down backed it up to 4th and 25. Kyle Ramsey’s 46-yard field goal attempt hooked just wide left.
Oklahoma State can win it with any points now.

The Wolverines get their consolation touchdown just inside the 2-minute mark. Davis Warren found Semaj Morgan for a 30-yard TD — Michigan’s first of the game. The 2-point conversion is no good.
The Hogs respond in due course with a rapid-fire touchdown drive of their own. It’s been a back-and-forth thriller in Stillwater.
In other action, Oklahoma State has taken a 28-21 lead on Arkansas and Kansas State just got a scoop-and-score to go up a touchdown on Tulane.
