Couple enraged by ‘obnoxious’ woman who smirks when her dog poos on their lawn

A couple are getting wound up by the ‘obnoxious’ woman who keeps walking her dog on their front lawn and letting it go to the toilet – now they want to install sprinklers to deter her away

If you have a lawn or driveway in front of your house, you’ll understand the struggles of keeping people and pets from trespassing. One couple have become very infuriated by a regular dog walker who keeps letting her pooch walk and go to the toilet on their grass.

They’ve taken to Reddit to rant about the “obnoxious” woman and claimed she always extends her lead when she gets near the property, and “smirks” when her dog goes to the toilet there. Now, the couple are considering getting motion-activated sprinklers to deter the unwanted visitors away.

Their post reads: “This woman has a large dog that she walks on her 25 foot retractable leash. It annoys me that she fully extends the leash when the dog wants to explore and do their business on my lawn. It feels intrusive.”

The couple have three dogs themselves and let them run freely in the front garden, but always make sure to hold them when other pets walk past.

“Most people will smile, say ‘hi’ and try and walk by without lingering so we can let the dogs go again. No big deal,” they explained.

“But this particular woman will look at me, straight in the eye, extend her dog’s leash, let the dog take a crap and then let it sniff around for however long it wants, maybe five minutes or more.”

At first, the couple would smile and wait patiently, but now they are becoming irritated by the repetitiveness.

“So the last time she walked by, we see her coming and grab the dogs. She stands in front of our lawn, fully extends the leash as her dog takes a piss by my garage door,” the post explained.

“She looks at me and smirks. I say calmly ‘ok, you’ve made your point’. I let go of my dog and my husband does the same and they go charging at hers.

“We ignore her. She doesn’t say anything at all. She can’t move because now her dog is playing with ours. Finally, my husband picks up the pugs and brings them inside.”

Reddit users were wound up by the woman and labelled her “passive aggressive”.

“She’s on some kind of weird power trip – it’s like she’s daring you to do something about it. If she does it again report her for trespassing,” someone commented.

Though some claimed the couple needed to take action instead of ranting online.

“There’s no conflict here. You have literally taken zero action except complaining to strangers on the internet. Tell the woman to keep her dog off your property. Take photos of her trespassing, and then get by-law officers (or police) involved if she escalates,” a person said.

In an update, the homeowners explained that they’re not allowed to put a fence up, but are considering sprinklers to stop the woman from treating their “front yard like a dog park”.

“Install some kind of electric fence or automatic sprinkler system – something that will deter that dog from being on your property,” a user agreed.
